The police forces across the country have called on residents to follow the rules and regulations when it comes to decorating cars on the National Day.
According to top official at the Sharjah Police, an inspection will target cars that are overdecorated. "Excess decoration may not only hide the number plate of the vehicle, but can also hinder drivers from driving safely."
The police have put up plans to ensure safety and security in various parts of the emirate by deploying patrols in celebration areas, such as parks, beaches and entertainment places as well as various areas that may witness traffic jams, he added.
He said that motorists should not change the colour of their cars and should not excessively cover it with pictures or flags. In the past years, many of the motorists were seen exposing their children to danger by allowing them to sit on the car roof. "Parents are urged to ensure the safety of their children while driving," he stressed.
Colouring or tinting of the front window of the car is strictly not allowed and the violators would face hefty fines. Reckless drivers and speeding youngsters would be targeted by the patrols and their cars will be confiscated. In view of the National Day celebrations, number of mobile radars on roads to detect reckless drivers who endanger lives of people has also been increased, he added.
He warned that people who are caught spraying colours or any kind of banned substances or using any type of lights that can harm people would be subjected to tough penalties.
A top Dubai Police official warned that they would be intensifying police patrols all over the emirate to penalise those who overdecorate their cars.
Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of the general department of traffic, warned that they will take strict action against motorists who decorate their cars in violation of the regulations. "No motorist will be allowed to decorate their cars in a way that obstructs the vision and endangers lives."
He also warned residents against standing on the top of cars. He said people are allowed to put posters on vehicles without blocking the vision.

The Ras Al Khaimah Police have warned against unlicensed National Day parades in a bid to ensure public safety and curb any possible traffic congestion or accidents.
A senior official said that some arterial roads will be blocked to clear the way and ensure smooth traffic flow for official parades on December 1 and 2.
Major-General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the RAK Police, said the police are all prepared for the National Day celebrations.
"A special committee, presided by Col Abdullah Menakhas, has been created to regulate all the National Day events and activities across the emirate," he added.
