"Initially, the National Day celebrations were restricted to the government and local authorities alone, but in the last 10-12 years it has involved residents and gradually the expats also became a part of this occasion", said Geeta Bhatia, the Marketing Manager of one of the oldest retail stores, Madhoor Supermaket, in Meena Bazaar, Dubai.

She added "we see lot of customers demanding flags, badges or magnets these days. To meet the rising demands for National day accessories, we import these things from China in advance. We have flags in three different sizes - large, medium and small to cater to everyone's need. People usually demand more of small or medium sized flags which they can put in cars".

The UAE National Flags are priced at Dh1 for the smallest size ones and Dh6 for the big ones.

She said that "these things never go unnoticed, though people stop here to buy necessary things like water or juice but they definitely take a look at these things also. In last few days I have sold more than 30 pens with designed especially for UAE's 45th National Day.

The pens and the wet wipes range from Dh2 to Dh5 per piece at the Nad Al Sheba Eppco petrol station.

Also, the UAE pavilion at the Global Village reflects the culture at its best with the key chains, scarf and UAE flag. It also attracts a lot of tourists and promotes the country's culture.
