"We went to the defendant's house in Al Barsha based on reliable information he used and possessed drugs. We did not find him then," an anti-narcotics police lieutenant said. "With a prosecution warrant we apprehended him later at his friend's place in a nearby area. We took him to the General Department of Narcotics and later referred him to the General Directorate of Criminal Evidence for urine test".

Later the police learnt the defendant was involved in the death of a woman because of heroin overdose. "The accused admitted that he was with that woman in the last hours before her death. He claimed she took several heroin shots in front of him before she slept at midnight. She never woke up. He drove to her sister's house in Al Barsha where he dropped her body and left," the lieutenant, who interrogated the accused, told the prosecutor.
A ruling is expected on February 27.
