Thief tries to stab cop in UAE after being caught red-handed

Ajman police has arrested an Arab national yesterday for his involvement in a spate of thefts in commercial outlets in the emirate of Ajman. The suspect had been caught red- handed by the police, while he was breaking the safe of a shop that he broke into after demolishing its lock. He resisted the officer by trying to stab him using a knife.

Colonel Abdullah Saif Al Matrooshi, Deputy Director of police operation said that they had received several complaints from the owners of commercial outlets about the thefts at their premises.

The police immediately formed a team to investigate the crime. The CID team intensified surveillance and deployment in targeted areas during the nights. The deployed officer then saw a man who broke into a shop, and kept waiting there until he entered the shop.

The police officer then went to the shop and caught the thief red-handed while trying to tamper with the safe in order to open it. The suspect first resisted the officer, and then tried to stab him, but the team used smart technique to prevent him from assaulting the police officers and control him.
During the interrogation the suspect confessed to his theft crimes that he committed in the various commercial outlets located in Ajman.
Based on his confessions he has now been referred to the public prosecution.
