Reward is better than punishment because punishment makes me hate myself. Others also get me angry and defensive. In circus with love, we can control tiger and python, but why not kids? Kids are more likely to accept limits and take responsibility but give them love, support and stay connected with them to change behaviour. Samay Dadlani, Gems Willington Primary School
I believe punishment is the best way to change behaviour. But the intensity of punishment is important. If students are exposed to humiliating punishment they become spiteful. Instead, if they are asked to do certain chores for the entire week or plant a sapling, they will realise their mistake and be involved in productive activities.  - Anagha Rajesh, Our Own English High School, Sharjah
I do think punishments are necessary for a change of behaviour because as commit a mistake we get the punishment we deserve. Next time when we are about to repeat the same mistake it will remind us of the punishment and it will stop us from repeating it. Punishments can have a great effect on a person. - Sarangi Narayan, Our Own English High School, Sharjah, Girls
Everyone in this world is born with divine qualities. Due to the circumstances and companionship they tend to change their behaviour. Punishment is not a right choice to change a person's behaviour. The person should be given an opportunity to realise his mistakes and correct them. In case the person repeats the mistakes then punishment is a right choice. - Subhasri Vijay, JSS Private School
