Wala Kalima, Arabic for 'Not Even A Word', a novel about an obedient young woman who's loved by her family because of her good behaviour and how children can be raised with decent morals, is among the best sellers at the ongoing Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.

The book by Tahani Al Hashemi, an Emirati female writer, talks about best ways to bring up children in homes and communities. Exhibited by Medad Publishing and Distribution, it has sold around 500 copies during the first two days of the fair.

"Parents and youngsters love the content of the book and they have bought hundreds of copies from us at the book fair," said Hassan Ali Al Zaabi, Director and owner of Medad Publishing and Distribution.

"Wala Kalima is an interesting book with a rich tale. It's a good guide for children between 13 and 19 years of age."

Al Zaabi, whose publishing firm won the award for the best local publisher company in the Sharjah International Book Fair Awards 2016, said they support Emirati writers and 70 percent of their books are works by local writers.

"Medad is a publishing house for young ambitious Emirati authors, especially women. We seek excellence in writing. We have about 30 new books on display," he told Khaleej Times on Thursday. "Our aim is to help create a new generation of writers with high level of creativity. We are keen on publishing novels, short stories and studies that are more about the culture and national identity of the UAE."

The week-long Abu Dhabi International Book Fair opened on Wednesday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and is attracting hundreds of students and book lovers.
