Global Village, the region's leading multicultural festival park and most iconic destination, has just concluded its Ramadan special initiative, the "Happiness Box", as part of UAE's Year of Giving campaign. The initiative has seen engagement with 20 schools and more than 1,000 students.
With an aim of encouraging the spirit of giving among young students to grow up spreading happiness in their communities, Global Village has distributed more than 1,000 "Happiness Boxes" to students in 20 schools across the UAE. Students were encouraged to gift these boxes to those who are in need in their own communities. Happiness Boxes included a variety of essentials such as snacks, drinks, self-care products, phone cards and more, all aimed to draw smiles in the month of Ramadan.

Commenting on the initiative, Ahmad Hussain bin Essa, CEO of Global Village said: "We are always keen to spread happiness in our community and we are glad to see young students with such great enthusiasm to participate in the act of giving during Ramadan. Happiness Box initiative aimed at teaching youth how to give while having the freedom to select how and whom to give. Young people have a lot of potential and desire to give back to society and we want to give them a real chance to contribute to making the world a better place.
"As a homegrown UAE brand, we have been actively supporting community initiatives for the past 21 years. Global Village welcomes hundreds of thousands of young people to our park every year and it only seemed natural that we find a unique way to get them to spread a little bit of hope and happiness - especially during the Year of Giving launched by our wise leadership", Bin Essa added.

Commenting on Global Village's initiative, Naveed Iqbal, principal of International School of Creative Science in Dubai, said: "In the spirit of the 'Year of Giving', the Global Village thoughtfully introduced the 'Happiness Box." This inspiring initiative involved our students giving an Iftar gift to a member of their community who they feel will truly benefit from the "Happiness Box." Our students in the International School of Creative Science in Nad Al Sheba, spent the evening thinking and considering who to give their gift to, which exudes the spirit of Ramadan.  It is during this time that we reflect more in the blessings that have been bestowed upon us by Allah and when we realize that there is always something more we can do to help those less fortunate. Something as simple as a smile and a welcoming gesture such as gifting a 'Happiness Box', goes a long way. We want to thank Global Village for involving our school in this amazing initiative and we look forward to participating in many more."
Speaking about his experience, Mostafa Mourad a 4th grader from International School of Creative Science said: "I was so excited when I got the 'Happiness Box' because I already knew who I wanted to give it to. I want to give it to my favourite Security Guard at school, Mr. Umar. I feel like when we give things like this to people who really need it in Ramadan, Allah blesses our fasting even more. Thank you, Global Village for letting us help!"

Global Village is always searching for innovative means of spreading happiness whether to its guests or outside its geographical boundaries. Previous initiatives include reaching out to people with determination, orphans and martyrs kids drawing smiles on their faces and engaging with them through innovative initiatives.
Global Village is scheduled to open for another season filled with global dining, shopping, and entertainment experience on November 1st, 2017 until April 7th, 2018.
