With heavy rains lashing the UAE over the past few days, residents and royals have been making the most of the cool and wet weather by heading out for road trips and excursions around the city and the country's mountainous areas - but one Dubai royalty recently surprised residents when he visited Deira or what is usually referred to as 'old Dubai.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, stunned residents when he visited Deira and Bur Dubai - via a traditional abra, much to the amazement of the abra driver, who can be seen interacting with the Crown Prince in the video.
Hamdan also honoured the mild-mannered middle-aged driver by using his selfie with him as the thumbnail for his Instagram video, that was posted on Sunday night.
Given the young Prince's popularity on Instagram, the video has garnered nearly 393,000 views and 3,000 comments within a day.
Sheikh Hamdan and his entourage can be seen ferrying down the iconic Deira Creek, which divides Dubai and Bur Dubai, during the day before making their way to the iconic traditional Spice Souq - a must visit tourist hotspot for both residents and tourists.
The video shows Sheikh Hamdan and the group touring the market and visiting the various spice shops there.
Giving into nostalgia, the young Prince captioned the video 'A glimpse down memory lane, where old meets new. #Dhow #Souk #Deira #BurDubai'.
