A recent circular from the Ministry of Health and Prevention has warned against the use of two batches of a locally made talcum powder due to the high amount of bacteria it contains.
Alerting all health facilities, the ministry issued the circular after being alerted by the Saudi Food and Drug Administration about two batches of talcum powder 'Ajmal Sacrifice For Her' Powder produced by Ajmal Perfume Manufacturing in UAE because it contains a high percentage of bacteria.
The commission explained that it analysed samples of talcum powder products in the local markets to ensure their safety. The results of analysis showed that the two batches from the above product contain a high percentage of bacteria that exceeded the limit in the list of safety requirements in cosmetics and personal care.
It noted that the exposure to high percentages of bacteria may cause health risks to the consumer. The two batches are A 7867012 08/2021 and A 7867068 09/2023.
The ministry has also asked authorities to withdraw the product from the market and prevent their circulation. The product is not registered in the Drug Control Department in the ministry, said the circular.
