Doctors at the Rashid Hospital succeeded in saving the life of a patient who had multiple perforations in his bowel and colon due to a liposuction surgery he went through earlier at a private hospital.

The patient came to the hospital last November after suffering from severe abdominal pain after undergoing the liposuction surgery.
After conducting a series of medical examinations, the doctors found out that the patient was suffering from septic shock due as a result of bacteria poisoning, which was also causing pronounced deterioration for his vital signs.

An X-ray examination showed suspicion of bowel perforations so they proceeded for an emergency surgery where he was found to have multiple perforations in the small bowel and colon with severe contamination. During the surgery, the doctors closed the punctures.
Following the first surgery, the patient was transferred to the ICU and after his health was stable, he underwent a second surgery to decrease the effect of the contamination.

The patient required continued ICU admission and his abdominal wall couldn't be closed, therefore he was referred to plastic surgery to deal with his abdominal wall defect.
Multiple plastic surgery procedures were done and the abdominal wall defect was successfully closed.

The patient needed almost a month of hospital stay and he was discharged in a good general condition in January.
