Clouds will take over the UAE today according to the latest updates by the National Center of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS). Along with falling temperatures, mercury is set to plunge this weekend in parts of the UAE. Strong winds are also forecast especially on the sea and in exposed areas such as the desert and the seas. Meteorologists predict that the temperatures will significantly drop starting from Thursday and continue dropping on Friday. Temperatures may even fall below zero degrees over high mountains. Cloud amounts will increase gradually over scattered areas on Thursday and Friday. They are likely to be associated with some rainfall especially at the coastal, islands and northern areas, and maybe some snowfall over high mountains. The snowfall is expected on Ras Al Khaimah's popular Jebel Jais mountain on Saturday midnight. The snowy weather will continue until next morning, according to local reports. According to the NCMS, "the country will be affected by a "deep low pressure associated with cold air mass in the upper layers and accompanied by low pressure on the surface layer causing instable conditions during this period."
North-westerly wind will freshen gradually becoming strong especially over the sea, causing blowing sand/dust and poor visibility starting from Thursday morning over far western areas, extending gradually over the rest of areas. Sea will be rough, becoming very rough in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, wind speed will weaken gradually by Saturday night and Sunday morning.
