UAE residents woke up to the year's first heavy fog on Thursday early morning, significantly reducing visibility on the roads.
The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) urged motorists to be cautious on roads due to fog over most areas and highways of the country.
Visibility was reduced to less than 50 metres. Fresh winds are expected to make the weather dusty during the day.
Temperature will fall to 7°C while reaching a maximum of 26°C.
The national met department also warned of rough seas in the Arabian Gulf, with wind speed of up to 40km/hr and 7ft high waves offshore.

Motorists are urged to drive safely and passengers are urged to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.
Earlier, in a statement on Wednesday, the NMCS had said that there was a chance of fog and mist formation especially towards the west. The relative humidity is likely to increase during the night and tomorrow early morning over most coastal and internal areas, with a chance of fog/mist formation over scattered areas. The sea will be slight to moderate in Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

The statement added that on Thursday and Friday, the conditions are likely to remain the same.
