Eighteen people have been killed and 14 others injured on Tuesday morning when a Salalah-Dubai passenger bus collided with a truck and car at a roundabout on the road connecting Fahud and Ibri.
Royal Oman Police (ROP) has confirmed the accident. The injured people have been admitted to hospitals.
According to the ROP, six Omanis, four Saudi nationals, two Pakistanis and one Yemeni were among the dead while the nationalities of the remaining five dead are yet to be identified.
Among those injured are 11 Omanis, two Saudi nationals, one Pakistani and a Chinese while another injured is admitted in the ICU.
According to sources, the bus had left Salalah for Dubai at 3:30 p.m. on Monday with 28 passengers onboard.
Police made the announcement in a tweet on Tuesday morning. They said the crash occurred on the Ibri-Fahud Road. Fahud and Ibri are cities west of the capital, Muscat, though it wasn't clear whether police meant the road linking the two cities.
