Saudi Arabia has executed one of its own young princes for murder for the first time since 1975. He spent his last hours with his family, saying goodbye to his loved ones.
Prince Turki bin Saud bin Turki bin Saud Al Kabeer, a Saudi national, was killed in Riyadh after pleading guilty of firing to death Adel bin Sulaiman bin Abdulkareem Al Mihaimeed, also a Saudi national, following a group quarrel, a statement by the Ministry of Interior said.
The prince's family tried to reach an agreement with the victim's father at multiple times throughout the day to accept the blood money and forgive him, however all attempts failed according to a report in the  Saudi news site Al Marsad.
The execution took place after the Asr (afternoon) prayers at 4.13pm.
The statement said that the security forces were successful to apprehend the offender as investigation into the case resulted in accusing him of committing the crime and referring him to the General Court which ruled that the accusation proved to be correct and sentenced him to death in retribution.
The verdict was supported by the Court of Appeal and later endorsed by the Supreme Court. A royal order was then issued to execute the courts' ruling.
Accordingly, the death sentence was carried out on Prince Turki bin Saud bin Turki bin Saud Al Kabeer on October 17 in Riyadh.
Announcing the news, the Ministry of Interior confirms to everybody that the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques is keen to keep order, stabilise security and bring about justice through implementing the rules prescribed by Allah Almighty on whoever violates the sanctity of civilians and commits bloodshed and, at the same time, warns whoever dares to commit such a crime that the Sharia penalty is awaiting.
