Roads and Transport Authority has been working round the clock to carry out maintenance work
After a horrific video of a Saudi father slapping his baby girl went viral, authorities stepped in to rescue the baby and reunite her with her mother.
The joy of Nareman knew no bounds when she was reunited with her infant daughter who was retrieved from the custody of her abusive father, Saudi Gazette and Okaz reported.
A video of the emotional reunion was released earlier last week, where the mother could be seen hugging her daughter Dareen, who is a Syrian national.
The violent video posted by the child's mother, pleading for help to rescue her, had sparked outrage across social media users in Saudi Arabia.
The baby could be heard howling as her father continued to beat her across her face.
Her mother is a Syrian national and her father a Saudi citizen. According to a Sabq news report, her mother said that her father took custody of the child when she was one month old and began to torture her.
The father reportedly lives in Makkah.
Nareman, a divorcee and lives in Madinah, had asked for help her retrieve her infant daughter from the clutches of the abusive father on Twitter.
The father had started sending her videos of him beating his daughter.
A well-known Saudi actor, Faiz Al-Malki, helped the mother - who was new to Twitter - to create a hashtag which started trending in Saudi Arabia.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Development took action in the next few hours and contacted the mother to verify the story.
After reuniting the baby with her mother, the Ministry said that they will continue to follow up with the mother and the infant.
Lawyer at the Human Rights Commission Abdul Aziz Al-Onaizi said, "We are going to follow-up on the paperwork of the infant and get her identification documents."
The commission will also pursue court proceedings against the abusive father, who was arrested in Makkah.
The mother thanked the concerned ministries who helped her in rescuing her baby, especially their Labour Ministry's branch in Madinah and Jeddah.
