If you think you've seen the last of Solid Snake, you're both right and wrong.
Konami has announced at Gamescom 2016 that it will be releasing Metal Gear Survive in 2017 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
This is welcome news for diehards of the Metal Gear franchise. Since Konami's relationship with creator Hideo Kojima ended in a rather not-so-good way, there was speculation that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was the last game in the popular game series, although Konami had said it would continue to create stuff based on it.

According to IGN, the game is set directly after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the new game will see members of Militaires Sans Frontieres not killed in that game's finale transported to an alternate universe through a wormhole, where they'd be duking it out with zombies and, seemingly, at least one Metal Gear.
And since its in an alternate setting, it means we might not see our hero Solid Snake - unless we get some surprise twist or cameo, as we are accustomed nowadays.
Though Big Boss is seen in the trailer, it is unclear whether any of the recognisable characters from the Kojima-led games will be making an appearance. Konami, however, clarified that this is a "new addition to the Metal Gear Solid V experience".
Few details were released by Konami, but Metal Gear Survive "will offer a fresh take on the series' famed stealth elements", Konami European president Tomotada Tashiro said in a Press release.
But, he continued, it would be in a "unique co-op setting that is designed for a truly engrossing multiplayer experience".
A Konami fact sheet describes the game as "survival done the Metal Gear way".
Again, this is the first Metal Gear game without Kojima, and it is unclear how much of the original Kojima Productions team will be pitching in on it.
