So you think your WhatsApp chats are private and secure with the end-to-end encryption that it rolled out earlier this year? Think again!
For a billion-plus users, end-to-end encryption does mean that your information - chats, comments, pictures, videos and now even GIFs - are secure in transit. I.e., they can't be intercepted in the ether. Not even by WhatsApp itself.
Only the account the message is sent from and the one it was sent to are able to de-encrypt it. Phew!

But that feeling lasts only until you realise that Android is the most penetrated OS of all time, and there's no dearth of ways for hackers to get into your device at will.
Which means that they don't have to hack the message in ether - short of holding a 'welcome' placard, your Android phone is ready to bare all the info at their mere asking.

But there's finally a cure. According to Android Police WhatsApp has started rolling out two-factor authentication in the latest beta version of the app (2.16.341).
What this will do is (no, not make your Android phone any secure) to enable a feature thanks to which no one will be able to activate WhatsApp with the same phone number even if they hack into your device.
How to activate it
For those with the latest beta version, head over to the account settings department and take a right turn from there. Kidding.
The two-step verification option will be there in your settings menu - tap it and follow the instructions.
