The National Center for Seismology and Meteorology took to twitter to share the dip in temperature in UAE this morning. They reported that the temperature at 8 am in Jebel Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah reached -2.2 degree Celsius today.

We now have a video of the snowfall in the mountains from this morning.

If you are planning for a weekend getaway, Ras Al Khaimah would be the perfect destination.

According to a KT reader, local authorities are no longer allowing motorists and residents up Jebel Jais. This has caused traffic jams to those within the area.

After heavy showers on Thursday in Ras Al Khaimah and moderate rain in few parts of Dubai, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain in the evening, the national forecaster is predicting scattered rainfall for today.

The weather overall will be hazy and cloudy, especially towards north and east. Temperatures are expected to dip as The National Center for Seismology and Meteorology reported that fall in temperatures are expected over most areas.

Fresh winds will blow over the sea causing dust/blowing sand with poor visibility over the day. The sea will be rough in Arabian Gulf and very rough in Oman sea.

It is advised to stick to speed limits and reduce speed whenever necessary as rains could lead to slippery roads.

We had reported that a wet weekend is in store in the UAE with a possibility of the mountainous regions experiencing some snow.

The strong winds also caused trees to be uprooted. Some of those uprooted ended up blocking roads in Dubai which has caused congestion on some roads. Despite this, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai , took a drive around the city - enjoying the rainy weather, when he came across a few uprooted trees. Hamdan took to instagram to post an Instagram story about his day out today.
