Dubai - The UAE has recorded its highest amount of rainfall in 24 years, the National Centre of Meteorology has said.

Over 3,000 Dubai Municipality workers drained out accumulated rainwater and removed waste from across the city.

According to a tweet by the Dubai Media Office, the staff used 35 pumps, dozens of vehicles and rainwater drainage stations to rid of the accumulated water.
During the last few rainy days, 3,100 reports were made to the Municipality's call centre on 800 900 or ??the Dubai 24/7 app.
The municipality staff drained and pumped out around 1.3 million cubic meters of rainwater across Dubai in the last 24 hours.
The UAE has recorded its highest amount of rainfall in 24 years, the National Centre of Meteorology has said. After two days of incessant rains, Al Ain's Khatm Al Shakla recorded 184.4mm of water. The previous record was 144mm of rainwater recorded in Sharjah's Khor Fakkan in 1996.
As many as 1,880 traffic accidents took place in Dubai because of heavy rain since Thursday.
Of these, 55 accidents were of serious nature, while the remaining were minor.
Since 12 noon on Thursday until 3.30pm on Saturday, the command and control centre of the Dubai Police received 51,749 calls on the emergency number 999, and 5,562 calls on the non-emergency number 901.
