Just because you didn’t get — or like us, couldn’t afford — a ticket to the F1 race in Abu Dhabi doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some of the events. Today is the last day of Arabic Culture weekend on the Abu Dhabi corniche, the culmination of many events open to the non-ticket holding public. There will be falconry, folk dancing and singing, henna stands, local craft sellers and refreshments. www.yasalam.ae

2 MON Who’s up for an Arabian Nights classic revamped to include all the frills in typical Bollywood style? If that’s an affirmative, then make it a magical movie night with Aladin (now at UAE theatres), starring Amitabh Bachchan as the lovable genie, Ritesh Deshmukh as Aladin and Sanjay Dutt as the fiendish ringmaster.
3 TUE Jazz fans may, in all likelihood, make the Spike Bar at the Emirates Golf Club their second home after work. Every Tuesday, a different live band will be performing a variety of jazz styles during the Jack and Jazz sessions, starting 7:30pm. Themed dining is available and entry is free, so no reservations need to be made in case you suddenly decide to put the jazz back in your life. Emirates Golf Club: 04-3802222
4 WED The 1960s psychedelic classic Blow Up is this week’s pick for movie night at The Shelter Gallery in Al Quoz. Michelangelo Antonioni’s controversial first English language film is a thriller set in the seedy Mod culture of London in the swinging 60s. Blow Up captures the style, fashion and attitude of the time and features a stunning performance by Vanessa Redgrave.
