Lykke Li — Little Bit
Oddball Swedish singer Lykke has a high-pitched voice that can take a bit of getting used to, but once you learn to love it, you realise just how talented she is. Little Bit is a wonderfully strange love song.
Lupe Fiasco —Kick, Push
An anthem for skateboarders everywhere. Lupe raps about his love for skating and the cuts, bruises, brushes with the law and heartache that comes with it. The chorus, “kick, push, kick, push and coast”, always makes me smile.
Maxïmo Park — Graffiti
Art-rockers from the north of England, Maxïmo’s Graffiti is packed with blasting guitars and heartfelt lyrics about lost love and school trips to France. A strange, but winning, combination.
Kraftwerk
· Tour De France
The godfathers of electronic music still sound as fresh and new today as they did when they first emerged. This track is superb, with Kraftwerk’s trademark beeps and bleeps.
La Roux — Bulletproof (Zinc remix)
A killer tune that has been making huge waves back home. La Roux may be the toast of the 80s revival movement, but this remix by Zinc brings her kicking and screaming into the year 2009. Huge basslines and pounding drums. Brilliant.
