How do you typically start your workday?
I start every day with yoga, because it's a great way to keep myself energised throughout the day. Moreover, it helps me focus and keep my mind in control. When I start my workday, I like to first take a look at the sales figures of the divisions I look after. This helps me analyse which departments are doing well and which ones need a push.

What is your favourite thing about your job?
I guess being my own boss is my favourite part. It gives me the prerogative to take decisions and personally look at how the company is progressing.

In your workday, what is the one thing you cannot do without?
Green tea. I cultivated the habit due to my frequent trips to China, and must have at least three cups a day now.

Who's your role model as the perfect professional, and why?
My brother Rizwan. We lost our father when we were quite young and he has since filled in the gap of a father for me. He has been instrumental in my growth and has been the biggest source of inspiration in my life - both personally and professionally. I can proudly say I am what I am today because of my brother.

Any insights or tips you can share on how to make the most of the workday?
The most important thing is to prioritise work. I try to tackle the most important issues in the first half of my day and then pay attention to matters that are not so urgent.

What advice would you give your younger self, if you could?
The best advice I could give my younger self is to value time. I was quite frivolous about my time early on in life and now realise that time lost can never come back. I could've utilised it to do so much more.

Your favourite indulgence when you need a break from work.
Cricket! I absolutely love a good game and have been actively involved in the sport over the years. When I need a break, I check match scores and, on occasion, fly out of Dubai to watch an India-Pakistan match wherever it is happening.

How do you maintain a work-life balance?
I believe I am a combination of a corporate head and a sports enthusiast. I head operations at the Danube Group, but at the same time, I did have a full-fledged cricket team called Danube Lions. Moreover, I am a total movie buff and enjoy watching all the new releases with my wife Rubina and our sons.

Any advice for youngsters just getting into the professional arena?
Discover your passion and work relentlessly to be successful. Nothing comes easy in life, but hard work and perseverance always pay off.
