Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of the Dubai Municipality, inaugurated the recreational park set up by the municipality on the premises of the Emirates Down Syndrome Association in Qusais area.
The recreational park built by the municipality includes five games in which all standards of safety and security have been taken care of as it is fitted with air-conditioners. Barricades are provided for special protection and umbrellas for protection from the sun and heat. Excellent services are in place to cope with the high temperature and high humidity, which affects people with Down syndrome negatively.
The move, in line with 2017 Year of Giving, was part of the community initiatives carried out by the municipality.
"According to this the focus of the work in the new year will be on three major themes, the first is the consolidation of social responsibility in the private sector to play their role in serving the country and contribute to the country's development. And the second is establishing the spirit of volunteerism and programmes specialised in all segments of society to enable them to provide a real service to the community, and take advantage of efficiencies in all areas. And third is to establish the service of the homeland in the new generations as one of the most important personal attributes of the UAE is to serve the country is always synonymous to love of the homeland," said Lootah.
Eid Mohammed Thani Hareb, Chairman of Emirates Down Syndrome Association, said: "The association was launched in October 2009 and offers its services for free to citizens and residents of all nationalities. It also holds a licence from the Ministry of Community Development and the Dubai Health Authority.
