The Department of Health is currently investigating a baby cream being sold in pharmacies across Abu Dhabi.
The cream didn't meet the quality control standards according to laboratory reports. Metallic debris of irregular shapes were detected in different samples of the diaper rash cream, according to Al Bayan.
The Bioderma ABCDerm Change Intensif products of the make (27961) with expiration date of October 2019 and A (22961) with the expiration date of August 2019, are not registered with the Ministry of Health and Community Prevention.
The products were still distributed across different health facilities across the emirate.
The health body called on pharmacies to send the product back to the supplier. The authority also requested the supplier to halt all commercial activity relating to this product in Abu Dhabi until the investigation is complete.
The product is used to treat diaper rashes and skin infections, reduce irritation and help the skin regenerate.
