Chick lit novels are those that go beyond romance - they deal with everything from career to family to self-development, all in a humorous manner. So, pick one up and feel all your worries melt away - you won't regret it!

Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding
It's hard to overlook this one, considering it helped shape the genre as we know it. Written in an epistolary format, the book follows the life of a woman who is anything but perfect. Bridget struggles with and obsesses over her weight, her love life and her career. Along the way, one gets a glimpse into the life of middle-class British society. The dialogue is hilarious, as is Bridget's train of thought and her many escapades (turning soup blue comes to mind). It also reminds us that it's okay to be flawed. 
Chasing Harry Winston by Lauren Weisberger
You may remember Lauren Weisberger for her masterpiece The Devil Wears Prada. But that, in no way ,means you can skip her other work. Chasing Harry Winston follows the lives of three best friends who could not be more different. All Emmy wants is to be a wife and mum, Leigh can't help but find fault in her perfect life and Adrianna is haunted by the thought of getting older and being single. So, one evening, they all make a vow to change their lives over the course of the year - and the fun begins. Not only are all three ladies completely relatable, this one highlights the importance of strong female bonds. 
Girl Online by Zoe Sugg
YouTube sensation Zoella took the world by storm with the release of her saccharine debut novel, which was the fastest-selling book of 2014. It can be classified as a young adult book as well, but it has just the right amount of humour and romance to be considered under chick lit. It follows the life of Penny Porter who goes to New York and accidentally has her blog go viral - for all the wrong reasons. It leaves you with a strong message about the power of social media, and how to use it responsibly - relevant for today's world, we think.
Lipstick Jungle by Candace Bushnell
Candace Bushnell, known for her much-loved Sex and the City series, proves that she's no one-hit wonder with Lipstick Jungle, released in 2003. The book follows the lives of three career-driven women: Nico, Wendy, and Victory are numbers 8, 12, and 17 on the New York Post's list of New York's 50 Most Powerful Women. Reading about them scheming their way to the top of their respective fields will probably leave you shocked - and a little awed. 
Wedding Night by Sophie Kinsella
Sophine Kinsella has positioned herself as quite the queen of chick lit, with a number of best-selling novels to her name. Wedding Night follows the story of Lottie who gets dumped by her boyfriend and decides to take drastic action with an old flame - by getting married immediately. Her newly-divorced sister Fliss thinks this is a terrible idea - and vows to go to any lengths to stop her. Not only is this filled with several laugh-out-loud moments, it subtly emphasises how divorce is not something to be taken lightly.
