ABU DHABI - The Centre of Waste Management – Abu Dhabi’s Western Region branch rolled-out a cleaning campaign across the areas of Muzera and Mahdar Qatof in the city of Liwa.
Seeking to maintain the highest levels of cleanliness, the campaign helped raise awareness on the importance of sustainable living while highlighting threats to the environment.
As part of the cleaning campaign, roads in the agricultural areas were cleaned and animal waste removed from around the farms. In addition to collecting waste from illegal dumping points across the city, sand from the roads and car stops was cleared. The residential, commercial and industrial areas within the district were also spruced up.
The Center of Waste Management – Abu Dhabi contracted West Coast Cleaning to implement the cleaning activities in the Western region.
Mohsen Al Ameri, Western Region’s Branch Manager, Center of Waste Management – Abu Dhabi, said: “The campaign complements our efforts including the recently organized initiatives in Al Sila and Ghayathi. It was conducted as part of our priority to maintain the cleanliness of the Western Region and encourage all sections of the community to adopt sustainable practices.
“More importantly, such efforts translate into economical results as the Center of Waste Management – Abu Dhabi utilizes a significant percentage of the green waste to produce organic compost at our facilities.”
