The new technology will serve the Central Operations Room of Abu Dhabi Police, which receives accident reports and alerts daily. These data will be swiftly relayed to patrols on road," said Major General Ahmed Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations, Abu Dhabi Police.

Major Al Raisi said 60 MDT sets had been installed on traffic patrol vehicles. "In the second phase, the sets will be fixed on traffic patrol vehicles as well as ambulances for quick intervention," he disclosed.

He said the MDT project was being installed as per instructions of Lt. Gen. Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior, to use modern technology to deliver world class services to both nationals and residents.

Major Al Raisi said the system passes details of alert/report which need urgent response directly to monitors of patrols through the control and command software without using the voice contact. This will ease burden on recipients of reports at the operations room and ensure quick response to distress calls.

He explained that the set is hooked up with the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police and the Automatic vehicle localisation systems (AVLS) of patrols. Coordinates of the site of accidents will decide the course the police patrol should take to reach the scene as quickly as possible.
