AL AIN - About 1,000 students have started their studies in the newly-established Abu Dhabi University (ADU) - 600 of them in Abu Dhabi campus and 400 in Al Ain campus.
Ali Saeed bin Harmel Al Dhairi, Chairman of the Founding Committee, lauded the overwhelming response the varsity has received from both students and their parents.
He stressed that the university has adopted a strict standard for admission and enrolment since its inception. The students who have been enrolled are UAE nationals, expatriates and from AGGC countries, he added. The ADU, accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, has admitted students to only three colleges that offer six educational programmes.
The Faculty of Business Administration presents three programmes of administration, sales and finance. Students of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences registered for education, IT and library science, translation and English Language for non-native Speakers.
The Faculty of Computer and IT offers the programme of computer sciences. Al Dhairi said, "We provide our students with othe facilities and incentives like transportation". Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, is at the helm of board of trustees of the newly established institution, which is owned by a limited liability company with a Dh200 million in investment, he added.
