According to the plan, whose details will be announced soon, the new Al Ain Public Hospital would again become one of the modern landmarks of Al Ain city, Gen. Shaikh Mohammed said during an inspection tour in the hospital.

Abu Dhabi emirate will enjoy a distinctive level of high quality health services, and full support will be given to development projects that are intended to improve the everyday life quality of citizens, he added.

As far as education and training in the health sector is concerned, priority will be given to providing national administrative and technical human resources, he said, adding that unlimited support will be given to UAE nationals who wish to join health educational institutes in the UAE or abroad in order to back up the medical sector with qualified resources which could respond to the requirements of the comprehensive development march that the UAE is enjoying under the wise leadership of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Accompanied by a number of senior officials, Gen. Shaikh Mohammed toured the emergency room, X-Ray section, Internal Medicine ward, Gynaecology ward, Paediatrics and other wards and sections where he was briefed by the staff on different aspects of the services.

He also toured the new four-storey building which is still under construction.

"Al Ain Public Hospital was built in 1971. In 1984, 370 rooms were added. In 2003, the hospital was expanded with another 120 rooms. The new building will add 180 rooms to the capacity of the hospital which will be commissioned within 60 days," Humaid Amah Al Mansouri, Director of the Eastern Medical Zone said.

As part of his inspection tour of Al Ain, General Shaikh Mohammed also visited Al Waha Hospital. He toured the various sections of the hospital, one of the oldest health facilities in the UAE, and listened to presentations on future development plans.

Earlier, he visited Al La’alie Pearls Girls Model Primary School, where he was accorded an enthusiastic welcome by the school administration staff and students. He was impressed by the school’s modern facilities, including laboratories and other educational aids. He attended parts of active lectures, talked to teaching staff and interacted with some of the students.
