Qasr Al Ain, or Al Ain Palace, a majestic fort in the centre of the oasis city, was the former home of the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Once a political and social hub, the palace, which was built in 1910, was converted into a museum in 1998. Creatively restored, family rooms and administration facilities have maintained their originality shedding light on the everyday life of the father of the nation. The museum in all its grandeur stands as a symbol of the history of the UAE, says KT senior photographer Nezar Balout.
