ABU DHABI - Algerian literature, art and culture will be on display at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation during the Algerian Cultural Week, starting with a special opening ceremony at the National Theatre of the Ministry of Information and Culture on Feb. 22 at 7pm.
Briefing newsmen yesterday, Khalfan Ali Mussabeh, Assistant Under-Secretary of Arts and Culture at the Foundation, said the event was being held under the patronage of the Algerian President, Abdul Aziz Bouteflika, and the UAE President, His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, with the support of the Ministry of Information and Culture.
He said this would be the first such composite Algerian Cultural Week to be organised in the UAE although individual dances and concerts had been held before.
The Ambassador of Algeria to the UAE, Abdel Hamid Bouzaher, said that the week's activities would be held in Abu Dhabi and other emirates.
