Serves: 2
Ingredients
For crumble:
Plain flour, sieved with pinch of salt 300 gms
Brown sugar, unrefined 175 gms
Butter, unsalted, cubed, at room temperature 200 gms
Butter for greasing
For filling:
Apples, peeled, cored,
cut into 1cm pieces 450 gms

Method
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Place the flour and sugar in a large bowl and mix well. Rub the butter into the flour mixture, a few cubes at a time, till the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
Place the apples in a large bowl and sprinkle over with sugar, flour and cinnamon. Stir well, being careful not to break up the apples.
Grease the cooking pan with butter. Spoon in the apple mixture; add the brown sugar and cinnamon powder, and cook for 8-10 minutes on low heat.
Remove the mixture from the heat. Place in a serving bowl, and sprinkle the crumble mixture on top.
Bake in an oven for 3-4 minutes until the crumble is brown and the apple mixture bubbling.
Serve with thick cream or custard.
