ABU DHABI — Booking an air ticket is going to be far easy with the launch of eTicketing in the UAE shortly, it is learnt.
Sabre Travel Network will introduce the electronic ticketing system by December which will spare the travellers of the hassles of going to a travel agent or airline office to collect their tickets, Daniel Naoumovitch, CEO of Sabre Travel Network Middle East, told Khaleej Times during the launch of the new venture between Sabre and Gulf Air.
"eTicketing will allow travellers to directly collect their tickets from the airport counter by using a reference number that will be provided while making an online booking," he noted.
According to Naoumovitch, eTicketing will be a more cost-effective, convenient and less time-consuming alternative for travellers.
On the launch of the Sabre Travel Network Middle East, Naoumovitch remarked that while Sabre has had a presence in the Middle East for nearly 15 years through its marketing partnership with Gulf Air, the new company will give Sabre a stronger presence in the region. "By bringing together the world's leading Global Distribution System (GDS) and the vast local expertise of Gulf Air, world-class services into the Middle East are being further extended," he said.
The CEO enthused that the Sabre system has been awarded the best GDS for a record 12 consecutive years at the World Travel Awards presented at the World Travel Mart in London.
Touching upon the travel boom witnessed in the UAE, Naoumovitch said that he wanted to ensure that Sabre provides all travel suppliers and agencies with the right tools and products to grow their business and offer innovative solutions to their consultants.
