ABU DHABI - The Federal Cabinet yesterday passed a national strategy and action plan for fighting desertification in the country.
Met yesterday under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Cabinet reviewed a report on the outcome of the 24th AGCC Summit held in Kuwait between December 21 and 22.
The council of ministers looked into two memoranda from the Federal National Council concerning Federal draft laws on voluntary work in the civil defence and endorsement of the closing accounts of the General Authority for Youth and Sports for 2001. Reports on participation of Ministry of Education and Youth in the 32nd conference of the Unesco held in Paris last October and of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs on the 20th meeting of the ministers of labour of the Arab Gulf Cooperation in Doha were also reviewed.
