The campaign was organised by the Environment Protection and Development Section of the municipality in conjunction with the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) as part of EEG’s Can Collection Day.
The municipality managed to collect 269kg of aluminum cans in four hours, between 9am and 1pm. As many as 53 public, private and educational establishments took part. There was widespread participation from community members and volunteers, too.
The can collection drive aims at shedding light on the significance of recycling leftovers and wastes which contribute to diminishing the environmental pollutants.
The drive was attended by Mohammad Saif Al Afkham, Director General of the Municipality, Mariyam Al Hamoudi, coordinator of the event and a number of municipal sections’ representatives.
