Conductor crushed to death by school bus

Eyewitnesses said Balan, who hailed from Mallapuram, Kerala, had slipped and fallen off the bus while he was boarding it after dropping some children near the BurJuman Centre. “He fell on the road and was run over by the back tyres of his own bus, dying on the spot,” said an eyewitness, adding that at the time of the accident, some children, who had yet to be dropped, got terrified over the incident.

School authorities confirmed the conductor’s death, calling it a great loss for them.

“Balan was working in the school as a bus conductor for the last five years, and it is unfortunate to lose him this way,” said a spokesperson for the school.

Dubai Police rushed to the spot and removed the body.

The police will carry out an investigation into the cause of the accident.

According to a roommate of Balan, the body is expected to be repatriated home for his last rites soon after the official proceedings are complete.
