Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s Knowledge Management Department will establish an electronic library by the end of the year to support the ‘Smart Government’ initiative launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which aims to provide electronic government services using smart phones and other technological platforms to enhance service efficiency and reliability.
The library will include several sources of knowledge, including local and international books, magazines, newspapers, documented studies and research material. Employees can browse these using their smart phones around-the-clock, thus promoting continuous learning and exchange of knowledge among DEWA employees.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said, ‘In fulfillment of the ‘Smart Government’ initiative launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aimed at providing complete online government services, DEWA is currently working on developing all of its existing electronic services. We have launched several integrated services for our employees and customers, in line with the e-transformation conducted by the Government of Dubai. We are currently establishing a fully electronic, easy-to-access, and content-rich e-library, to provide access to necessary data and information for our employees anywhere, anytime. This will enable them to strengthen their trove of knowledge, which will translate positively through their service levels.’
The newly-opened library in DEWA’s Sustainable Building in Al Quoz has been received positively by delegates and officials that have visited the site.
