Doha: Middle East's culture pot

The newly opened Museum of Islamic Art has lived up to the hype and is a definite must-see.

Another place not to miss is Waqif Souq, one of the most beautiful in the Middle East, a result of a recent refurbishment, which has seen all the metal and neon replaced by brushed concrete and wood.

One of the highlights of the souq is the Waqif Art Center, a collection of galleries, art and design shops in a traditionally-restored Qatari town house.

Wander to the northern edge of the souq and take your pick from a huge selection of regional cuisine. Take an outside table on one of the rooftop restaurants for beautiful views of the Doha skyline.
