DUBAI —The Dubai Drydocks has reported that one of its employees fell to his death from a vessel under repair in the yard yesterday morning.
By late afternoon, the police were still investigating.
"At approximately 9.50 this morning one of our firemen was exiting a tank on board a product carrier up an access ladder. He was seen by an eyewitness to hesitate a number of times while climbing the ladder and at one stage slump against the ladder. Soon afterwards, he completely let go of the ladder and fell backwards over the handrail from a significant height to the tank bottom," Dubai Drydocks Chief Executive G.H. Taylor said.
“It seems that he suffered from some debilitating condition, which caused him to lose his hold on to the ladder. Further medical reports are awaited," he added.
