Ammar bin Tamim, Deputy Director, Administrative Department, DTC, said the corporation is working to develop the transportation industry and is keen to strengthening the coordination among the transportation authorities of related institutions to achieve economic integration locally and globally.

Ammar bin Tamim said the increase in population and the number of vehicles has forced the authorities to enhance transportation services to solve traffic problems and make plans in line with the development in the transport sector and infrastructure in the emirate. He disclosed a new data-readable metering machine, which will help in electronically determining the geographical locations of the taxis and transfer all data during their operation, will soon be fixed in all taxis.

“The machine will also determine through its networking, the number of vehicles available and guide drives to take alternative routes during traffic jams. It will also provide data according to the number of trips in kilometres, the income generated, the distance travelled as well as information about the driver and vehicles. The machine will also display advertisements and can also be connected with the Internet,” he explained.
