DUBAI — The Dubai Municipality will build a new museum to preserve priceless historical artifacts and disseminate information about Arab culture and traditions.
Engineer Ahmad Mahmood Ahmad, Head of the Historical Buildings Section of the municipality, said the project would be implemented soon.
Officials said the new museum would be much bigger in size than the Dubai Museum and would put on display artifacts from all over the Middle East. The building will follow ancient Arab architecture. The section will be holding meetings to decide on the location of the new museum.
Ahmad said the section would also be hosting the second International Conference and Exhibition on Architectural Conservation from February 11 to 13. He added that the work on the museum will gather pace as soon as the conference ends.
“We want people to know about the culture, traditions and heritage of Dubai. We do have a museum and several other buildings that offer people an opportunity to know about our culture. But then this is not enough. This new museum will be bigger and more informative than the existing one. Tourists will like it,” he added.
