The MoU aims to implement Abu Dhabi’s e-government policy, provide the necessary protection for information and keep up with the rapid developments and changes in the electronic fields.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Jaber Al Jaberi, EAD’s Deputy Secretary General, and Engineer Majed Al Mesmar, TRA’s Deputy Director General in a signing ceremony held at EAD offices in the Al Mamoura Building.

This MoU will help EAD benefit from aeCERT technical expertise in the field of information security, facilitate detection and response, prevent a wide range of electronic crimes and maintain the security of the electronic network, in addition to providing support and protection for data and information.

Dr. Al Jaberi said, ‘We at EAD believe that environmental protection and management in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi is in dire need of an integrated environmental database that enhances efficiency and improves the quality of decisions taken thereon, thereby achieving social and economic development in a sustainable and balanced way.’

He added, ‘In line with our pursuit to provide data for all our stakeholders, we are very pleased to sign this agreement with TRA, which will provide us with the knowledge of the actions required to protect our systems and electronic data from cyber-attack threats. It will also enhance mutual cooperation between the two parties in the field of information security and the mechanism of coordination for the sharing of information and the provision of early warning and notification of threats and vulnerabilities in order to facilitate detection, prevention and response to the broader set of cyber-security incidents such as hacking, viruses and corruption on the Internet.

Dr. Al Jaberi noted that the deal will strengthen cooperation between EAD and TRA and identify the main framework for future cooperation between the two parties to achieve common goals and support EAD in facing environmental challenges and to contribute effectively to sustainable development.

Engineer Majed Al Mesmar, TRA’s Deputy Director General for the telecommunications sector, said, ‘The UAE is committed to strengthening its strategy of economic competitiveness from environmentally sustainable business, and that is why we were keen to sign this MoU with EAD, at a time when the world is shifting radically in the technical and digital fields.’

Since its inception in 1996, the role of Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi has evolved and continues to develop together with other governmental bodies and institutions in Abu Dhabi in order to enhance its electronic abilities in the virtual world.
