DUBAI - Several Etisalat mobile phone users have said that they are facing connectivity problems in some parts of Dubai since late Saturday evening.
As pointed out to Khaleej Times, several Etisalat mobile phone customers said that they were facing problems reaching others on their mobile phones.
"I tried calling a close friend on Saturday evening and even until yesterday, but it was switched off though I know that she never switches her phone. I panicked and was finally able to reach her on her landline," explained Mariam M, also an Etisalat cutomer.
"She explained that her phone was 'dead' for the past 24 hours, and everyone was trying to reach her through the landline," added Mariam.
Several other users had similar complaints. However, the service provider said that the problem has been resolved.
"It was a small technical problem and we have resolved it," said a senior official.
Ahmed bin Ali, Vice-President Corporate Communications Department, Etisalat said: “Etisalat has repaired the service glitch that affected some parts of Dubai yesterday. We would like to appreciate the efforts of technical support team in dealing with this interruption which was resolved extremely quickly.”
Etisalat, however, did not elaborate on the nature of the problem, and which parts of the emirate were most affected.
Earlier, an Etisalat Customer Service Centre employee also confirmed that the incident had occurred and several complaints had also reported.
"I know that the problem is being resolved, but when it will be done completely, I cannot say," he added.
