Women should report harassment to the police to help nab the culprits, according to experts.
Naeema Al Houri, a social worker said that teenagers and men who have had to live here for a long time without their families are the ones who commonly indulge in such activities. "Sometimes, young men do this just for fun.

Al Houri said there are many reasons as to why men resort to such practices. "Men want to talk to women or come close to them to satisfy a sexual desire."
This commonly happens at hypermarkets and souqs. "Young men who indulge in these activities are ignorant, lack ethics, follow bad company, or are just having fun. They might also be facing family suppression at home or are pampered," she said.

Social media have also glorified the practice, she said.
Parents, too, are responsible since they "must teach their children morals and values as well as to respect the opposite gender".
Hamad Al Rahoumi, a legal expert at Ajman Courts, said eve-teasing falls under the category of sexual harassment.
