DUBAI — The Dubai Civil Defence (DCD) has urged consultants and contractors to abide by the standards approved by it in designing fire-fighting systems and buildings.
The standards are those of National Fluid Power Association (NFPA), British Standards (BS), European Standards (EN) or their equivalent Gulf ones
According to a circular issued by Director-General of the Dubai Civil Defence Rashid Thani Al Matroushi yesterday, no designs or drawings submitted by the contractors or consultants will be checked or approved unless they comply with these standards. This is in accordance with the ministerial decision No. 154/91.
The consultants and contractors should ensure all fire-related equipment installed in buildings are approved by the Dubai Civil Defence. Otherwise, no building certificate will be issued and they shall be held responsible to replace the equipment.
