Funeral prayers for Al Ain victims in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI - Large number of Bangladeshi community members gathered at the Shaikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) Mosque on Monday to attend the funeral prayer of four of the 19 Bangladeshi workers, who died in a road accident in Al Ain on February 4.

The prayers held after Maghrib prayers was attended by friends and relatives of the victims and officials from the Ministry of Interior and Bangladesh embassy and SKMC.

On Saturday, a similar funeral prayer was held for seven Bangladeshi victims at Al Ain Hospital Mosque and their bodies were flown to Dhaka in the early hours on Sunday. The prayers for the remaining victims were also held in Al Ain on Monday, and their bodies will be flown home on a Biman flight on Tuesday.

Latiful Haq Kazmi, Consular for Labour Affairs at the Bangladesh embassy, said the embassy has been coordinating with Biman and the employers of the victims, to help repatriate the dead at the earliest.

He also said body of each of the victims is accompanied either by a close relative or friend.
