DUBAI — A training programme, aimed at enabling UAE national government officials in Dubai to obtain the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) certification started yesterday.

The programme is being held under the patronage of General Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister.
Shaikh Mohammed urged national government employees to take advantage of the programme to enhance their professional skills. He emphasised IT’s role in bolstering creativity and nurturing innovation in professional work environments. The programme is being conducted by the Shaikh Mohammed IT Education Project (Itep). The first phase of this ICDL training will cover a total of 750 national employees working for all the various government departments in Dubai. Training in this phase is expected to be completed by September 7, 2005.
