IndiGo ventured into the Middle-East in the year 2011 with the launch of Dubai and Muscat as its first international destinations. From three daily flights in 2011, IndiGo has established itself as a preferred carrier with increased capacities and compelling fares on India-Middle East routes to Sharjah, Muscat and Dubai.

Over the years, an exponential growth in traffic between India and the Gulf, due to increasing business ties and demand for holiday travel, has been observed. IndiGo also launched daily direct flights from Delhi and Mumbai to and from Doha and maiden flights between Sharjah-Hyderabad and Sharjah-Lucknow, which not only helped the airline cater to the growing tourist potential of the city, but also provided affordable travel option to the Indian diaspora workforce who can now look forward to visiting their homes more frequently.

To create more travel opportunities for travelling customers to and from the Middle East, IndiGo launched Kuwait and Abu Dhabi as its 10th and 11th international destinations in 2018. IndiGo, and Istanbul-based Turkish Airlines, a member of Star Alliance, announced a codeshare and mutual cooperation agreement, which will enable both carriers to provide more flexibility of choice to their respective customers to fly on sectors between India, Istanbul and beyond. This is the first codeshare agreement for IndiGo as part of its international expansion strategy.
Through this cooperation, Turkish Airlines will be offering new destinations in India as Marketing Carrier on IndiGo operated flights, while IndiGo customers will be able to reach many European destinations through Turkish Airlines' extensive network. This reciprocal arrangement will allow TK and 6E to provide seamless connections to their customers, besides enabling them to use through check-in and many other facilities. IndiGo will place its code "6E"on 20 points beyond Istanbul operated by Turkish Airlines. Similarly, Turkish Airlines will use its code "TK" on IndiGo operated flights within India.

Rahul Bhatia, Director and Interim Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo said: "We are very excited to be launching our first codeshare with Turkish Airlines. Apart from supporting our upcoming direct services to Istanbul, this strategic partnership will expand the choices available to our customers for journeys beyond Istanbul, using Turkish Airlines' extensive network.  It will become possible for our customers to book itineraries into many cities in Europe on IndiGo, using Turkish Airlines and experiencing their renowned inflight service."
William Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo, said: "We are pleased to launch Kuwait as our 10th and Abu Dhabi as our 11thinternational destination, effective October 2018. IndiGo has completed 12 years of successful operations in the Indian market as a low cost carrier, and adding Kuwait and Abu Dhabi to its network will further augment the regional connectivity that we provide to our customers. This is part of organic expansion within the Gulf for us, as we complement our domestic network with international connectivity. With these non-stop flights between Kuwait and India, IndiGo operates 63 daily non-stop flights between the Middle East and India."

IndiGo will continue to expand its network to meet the requirements of both business and leisure travellers wherever they demand it. It is its constant endeavour to provide more flexibility of choice to customers as IndiGo continues to offer them on-time, courteous and hassle-free service, and an affordable flying experience, always.
