The passports were lying with the ADNRD for various reasons such as “lost passport”, “absconding worker”, or because of complaints of the sponsors etc.

Abdi Satya Utama, Third Secretary, said, “the mission has so far received 470 applications in Abu Dhabi from illegals seeking amnesty.”

On the outpasses, Utama said: “We have not begun issuing outpasses to the amnesty-seekers as yet but we’ll begin it once we have collected a certain number of applications. We are trying to obtain the remaining passports lying with the ADNRD because it’ll make our job easy to identify the illegal Indonesian workers residing in the country.”

Utama added: “We are spreading the amnesty message among the Indonesians with the help of our community members and volunteers from different emirates. Now, every person is aware about the amnesty plan. We are now getting huge crowds at our mission in Abu Dhabi.”

“The embassy is planning to make extra arrangements as the crowd is increasing. If needed, our mission will remain open on holidays too,” said Utama.

The Mission is also striving to ink deals with various airlines for discounted ticket prices for the amnesty-seekers.
