The Radisson Blu, Deira, played host to the reunion of India's Jamia Millia Islamia University, that saw over 500 JMI alumni and their families attend the gala event.
The Jamia Millia Islamia Alumni - UAE, organised its 96th annual meet "Jamia Foundation Day", to celebrate the birthday of their alma mater. The meet saw alumni of the varsity joining from Oman, Doha , Saudi Arabia and even the UK.
Current vice-chancellor, Talat Ahmad, served as the chief guest, while Osama Al Rahama, CEO of Alfardan Exchange LLC, was the guest of honour at the event. Prof Ahmed delivered a speech on the values and ideals that define the university. He stated that JMI is a confluence of modern and age-old values of brotherhood and mutual coexistence. It is a platform from which students embark on a journey of learning and self-discovery.
Imtiyaz Ahmad Ansari, an alumni, welcomed the guests and highlighted JMI's achievements.
Parvez Siddiqui won the best achievement award for relentlessly organising the alumni meet for several years. Other prominent members and organisers of the event were Ahmad khan, Muslim Ghayyur, Talha Bin Asif, Abdul Khaliq, Riyaz Khan, Shams Alam, Amjad Khan and Salaudine Ansari, Nadeem Hasan and Syed Nadeem Zaidi.
A poetry session by AM Turaz (Bollywood lyricist and poet) and a musical performance by singer Zain from the UK added glamour and fun to the gathering.
